2018 Inauguraul National Conference on Children with Incarcerated Parents 

In April 2018 Ms. Carson was invited to speak on her vision for a truly restorative parent child visiting model. She explored the conflicts of being a mental health provider in carceral settings along with a hopeful vision for families to heal.

 

Radio: Oregon Public Broadcasting - Think Out Loud Program 

Ms. Carson was invited to speak on behalf of San Francisco Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership (SFCIPP) to talk about the Bill of Rights for children of incarcerated parents. In the program, Ms. Carson reiterated the need for comprehensive look at the policies, practices, and procedures that caused additional harm to children with incarcerated parents. Conference: The International Coalition for children with incarcerated parents

The International Coalition for Children with Incarcerated Parents invited Ms. Carson to present her paper on "The Restorative Power of Therapeutic Parent Child Visitation." This conference included international thought leaders who championed change for more humane criminal justice systems.

Previous Trainings Provided: 

HUckleberry youth center

Ms. Carson provides ongoing training and clinical supervision for clinicians and managers working at  Huckleberry Youth Centers on the complexity of working with multiple system involved families. 

Lincoln child Center

Ms. Carson trained 50 clinicians and managers at Lincoln in best practices when working with children impacted by the criminal justice system. 

University of San Francisco School of Medicine Pediatric Fellows

Ms. Carson designed and facilitated trainings for fourth-year residents on the impact of incarceration on children and families. 

Write Institute

Ms. Carson provided training to 120 graduate students of the Write Institute on the criminal justice impacts on vulnerable families. Training includes best clinical practices when working with families from arrest to re-entry.  

Center For Family Counseling

Ms. Carson provided training and clinical case consultation to clinicians of the Center for Family Counseling. They seek to empower families and enrich communities in West Oakland impacted by incarceration.
