In 1998 Ms. Carson began her social work career providing services to families in the South Bronx. She then worked for 7 years serving teens emancipating from foster care where she began treating children and families hurting from disenfranchised loss. This work included training teachers and running groups for children with incarcerated parents throughout Boston.
Ms. Carson's work within criminal justice agencies began in 2007 when she supervised Youth focused social workers inside of the Gang Unit and Homicide Units of the Boston Police Department and provided training to law enforcement stakeholders. With Scotland Yard in London, Ms. Carson collaborated around program development for unaccompanied minors. She has also managed projects from design through evaluation in international settings such as Haiti and Eastern Africa.
As the Program Director for One Family, Ms. Carson provided program development and oversight, grant writing and agency policy development. She was also instrumental in crafting Visiting Policy with the San Francisco Sheriff's Department. She oversaw all children's services throughout the Jails. She has provided training in this work throughout the United States and globally.
